Our Commitment

At IPS, we believe every child is full of potential—capable, curious, and ready to lead. We are deeply committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment where children feel protected, valued, and empowered to thrive.

Who the Policy Protects

This policy protects:

  • All children enrolled at IPS
  • All children participating in IPS activities and events

It applies to every child, regardless of background, ability, religion, or identity.

Who It Applies To

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. This policy applies to:

  • Teachers and teaching assistants
  • Administrative and leadership staff
  • Volunteers and third-party providers
  • Visitors and external partners

Our Guiding Principles

Our safeguarding approach is grounded in our school ethos:

Respect & Inclusion- Every child is treated with dignity and fairness.

Safe, Purposeful Learning- We ensure learning happens in a secure and welcoming environment.

Strong Relationships- Trust between adults and children helps identify concerns early.

Reflective Practice- We review policies and practices regularly to ensure ongoing improvement.

Recognising and Reporting Concerns

All IPS staff are trained to recognise signs of:

  • Physical, emotional, or sexual abuse
  • Neglect or unsafe conditions
  • Behavioural or emotional changes that may signal distress

If a child discloses a concern:

  • Staff will listen respectfully
  • Record the facts using the child’s own words
  • Report immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL)

All members are trained in child protection and handle all concerns confidentially and professionally.

Safe Recruitment & Staff Conduct

We implement strict recruitment processes, including:

  • Background and reference checks
  • Safeguarding and Code of Conduct training
  • Ongoing professional development and performance review

All staff uphold high standards of behaviour to maintain a safe and nurturing learning environment.

Working with Families & Authorities

We believe in strong school–home partnerships.
While we inform and involve parents whenever possible, our priority is always the child’s safety. If required, we report directly to child protection authorities.
